What Is Life School, Anyway?

What Is Life School, Anyway?

In the world of hand analysis, your Soul Psychology refers to the three aspects of your unique spiritual self—Life School, Life Lesson, and Life Purpose—that are revealed in your fingerprints. Because your Soul Psychology is based on your fingerprints, it doesn’t change over the course of your lifetime. As any good crime-show fan knows, fingerprints are used for identification because they are exclusive to each individual.

Your Soul Psychology is permanently hardwired into your psyche. It defines what, over the course of your life, will prove valuable and fulfilling for you. Knowing your own Soul Psychology can make a huge difference in your ability to navigate your world in a way that makes your life meaningful.

The Life School piece of your Soul Psychology is the foundation for your ‘world view.’ It’s the water in which you are swimming, the frame around your jigsaw puzzle—or maybe the table on which that puzzle is laid.

There are four Life Schools, representing four aspects of human development:

  • Feeling safe and balanced in your body
  • Developing your awareness and intellect
  • Recognizing the messages of your heart—feelings, intuition, empathy
  • Being of service to others

While we are all engaged in every Life School to some degree, one or two will require extra care and attention. Think of it as a course of study in the American university system. When we go to college, we have to complete general education requirements (dabbling in all of the Life Schools). But we also have to complete courses in our major area of study. Each student has at least one major (and sometimes more than one). Your Life School is your major.

And your fingerprints identify what that major (or majors) is for you.

More on how that works next post!

Palm Reading vs. Hand Analysis

Palm Reading and Hand Analysis – What’s the Difference?

What picture do the words ‘palm reading’ conjure up for you?

If you’re anything like me, you may envision a school carnival, with a tent staffed by a willing mom wearing a turban and lots of jewelry. She examines your hand and tells you when you’ll get married, how many children you’ll have, and how long you’ll live. This sort of palm reading is fun; it’s entertaining, and it generally settles lightly on you.

However, this isn’t hand analysis. While hand analysis does involve looking at the lines in your hands, the structure of your fingers, and your hand shape, it is very specific about looking at your fingerprints. Your fingerprints, which are formed before your birth, contain your life blueprint. They reveal who you are here to be (your life purpose), the life challenges you can expect to encounter as you pursue that purpose (your life lesson), and the filter through which you experience the world (your life school).

There is nothing predictive about hand analysis (except to the extent that, barring a choice to change, you’ll continue to do what you’ve always done). The lines in your Handhands have no predictive power; rather, they reflect what we in the land of hand analysis call your ‘personality psychology.’ You have natural personality traits—e.g., an emotional style, an intellectual style—and you have behavior patterns that are the result of the choices you’ve made throughout your life. Those natural tendencies, and your free-will choices, are displayed in your hands, and there is a specific system for
decoding them.

In contrast, I’ve seen a number of different sources of information on palmistry, from centuries-old to 21st century, and they vary widely. Depending on the reader, you may encounter major variations in interpretation. A palm reader, especially a deeply intuitive or empathic one, may also be inclined to make predictions based on what s/he sees. I wouldn’t presume to judge that process. But it is not hand analysis.

Hand analysis is science-based, objective, and concrete. While every hand analyst brings a degree of interpretation and intuition to the session, the basic life blueprint information you gain from a properly trained and certified hand analyst won’t vary. Your fingerprints have a story to tell, and it is the same story, regardless of who is telling it!

Find a Way

“If one wants to do something he or she will find a way.
If one does not want to do something he or she will find an excuse.”

Isn’t this a fabulous quotation? It led off an email that an artist colleague forwarded to me today. Sadly, there is no attribution, but the quote certainly resonated.

The quote was followed by a series of beautiful pencil drawings of wild animals. At the end of the email, you learn that these amazing works were created by quadriplegic artist Doug Landis, using a pencil gripped between his teeth.

This is an individual who has certainly found a way.  On his website, mouthart.com, he shares his philosophy along with his art. Following a debilitating accident, rather than dwelling on what he couldn’t do, he decided to explore what he could do.

Even though all of my limbs are in fine working order, it’s embarrassingly easy to fall into the excuse trap. And I’m not alone. When family or friends are struggling, my first impulse is to lend an empathetic ear; we all need support and encouragement at one time or another.Gardening

But here’s the dilemma—when we continue to dig the same holes for ourselves, it’s time to learn more about why we’re doing it. This is the beauty of discovering our Life Lesson. Understanding and recognizing the challenges that pop up as we try to live our Life Purpose can prepare us to find a way, rather than find an excuse.
